Meet the Crunchy Cream, one of the many stars in Fuji Bakery's pastry case—and one of the best things I've eaten in recent memory. This doughnut is filled with vanilla custard and then rolled in sugar and toasted cornflakes. Yes, toasted cornflakes.

If I had to compare, the Crunchy Cream is the lovechild of General Porpoise's perfectly yeasted doughnuts and Portland's Voodoo Doughnut's unusual toppings. It's what a Top Pot doughnut should aspire to be: incredibly fluffy and not cloyingly sweet. And, unlike some of its custardy counterparts, the Crunchy Cream's innards don't come gushing out when you take a bite, a huge plus if you're eating on the go.

If you're not feeling a cornflake-covered pastry (you monster), I'd also highly recommend the azuki bean bun. While some azuki bean or red bean pastries may hit you over the head with a too-sugary paste, Fuji's bun still retains a slight savoriness.

TL;DR: Do yourself a favor and take your coffee break at Fuji Bakery this week.
