3. Seattle Storm: Stand With Planned Parenthood
In what, according to the press release, will be the first-ever collaboration between Planned Parenthood and a professional sports team, Seattle Storm will host a pre-game rally and auction to benefit the nonprofit before their match with Chicago Sky. $5 from every game ticket will be sent to Planned Parenthood as well. Dawn Trudeau, the team's co-owner, had this to say: âAccess to affordable, quality health care, including a full range of reproductive care, is a critical precondition for anyone â especially girls and women, to pursue their dreams and grow into their best selves.â
4. Patio Grand Opening Party
Celebrate summer on TeKu's new patio with fruity beers, including Fremont Summer Ale with raspberry lemonade flavor. Bread & Circuses and the Candy Butcher will sell burgers, brats, and quesadillas.
5. Savory Side of Chocolate
Join local chocolatier indi chocolate for a demonstration and discussion on how chocolate can be used not only for the requisite sweet stuff, but also for savory dishes. indi sources its dark chocolate from cacao farmers around the world, and then makes it in its Pike Place Market factory. Experience the final product with indi and Renaissance Seattle Hotel's Executive Chef Erick Gonzalez.
6. Zima Pop-Up Party
Revisit Zima, the "original bottled cocktail," which easily takes on other flavors like candy (the bartenders will have pop rocks on hand). It suffered in the '90s from its reputation as a "girly drink," but perhaps such misogynist notions won't hold it back upon its reintroduction. Dance to '90s tunes by DJ Absolute Madman as you try the drink.
7. Knick Knack Records Takeover
Knick Knack Records will take over both the bar and the sound system with a whole night of Knick Knack artists on the speakers and label heads serving drinks and slinging merch.
8. Lucien Dante with Sun Dummy
Alt-pop artist Dante takes his inspiration from James Blake and Bon Iver. Dance to his R&B-infused smoothly nasal vocals, with an opener by Seattle's Sun Dummy.
9. Siren's Rain, Merchant Mariner, Strange Camera
A fellowship of metal and folk musicians (including a hurdy-gurdy player) will play power-folk influenced by Nightwish and other fantasy metal bands.
10. Clarion West presents Daniel José Older
Daniel José Older (author of Half-Resurrection Blues and Shadowshaper) will read in Seattle as part of the Clarion West science fiction series. He'll share some of his favorite new work and answer questions about process, teaching, and more. The evening will begin at 6 pm with music by Gabriel Teodros; the reading starts at 7.
11. Nerd Nite Seattle [66]: Corvids and Cables
Two scientists will expand your horizons "from the sea to the sky": the appropriately named doctoral researcher Kaeli Swift will explain corvid (crow/raven) behavior, and Chris Woodfield of NANOG (North American Network Operator's Group) will give a talk about Wiring the Oceans: How We Built the Intercontinental Internet.
12. Beers & Boot Camp
Join local Running Evolution instructor Beth Baker for an hour-long boot camp class, followed by "beers and cheers." Your ticket includes the class plus three beer tasting tokens (or a full beer). Paired snacks and additional beer will be available for purchase. 21+. Rain or shine.

FILM13. 48 Hour Film Project
Dozens of teams of Seattle fly filmmakers had only 48 hours to make a film, and now you can watch the results on the big screen. There are four different slots to buy tickets for over the two remaining days of screening. Whatever you choose, you're sure to get a smorgasbord of genres and styles.

20. Jazz Talk: Dr Julian Priester with DâVonne Lewis, Johnaye Kendrick
Don't underestimate Seattle as a "jazz town." Hear about the history of jazz in the city from the '50s to today from Julian Priester, who as a teenager played trombone with Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, and Sonny Stitt, later joined Sun Ra's big band and toured alongside Lionel Hampton and Dinah Washington, collaborated with John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, and Herbie Hancock, and recorded a number of albums. Drummer D'Vonne Lewis (who gets tons of love from Charles Mudede and other Stranger writers), singer Johnaye Kendrick, and poet/jazz historian Nashira Priester will perform live music to start off the evening.
21. The Mal DeFleur Farewell Tour
The lovely and elusive Mal DeFleur will grace the Pony stage for one night only in a soulful cabaret performance that will be their last in Seattle.
22. Parasitic Ejaculation, Angel Splitter, Visceral Embodiment
Hailing from the sunny dunes of Santa Cruz, Parasitic Ejaculation provide "Slamming Brutal Death Metal" for their adoring hordes. They'll be joined by Angel Splitter and Visceral Embodiment at this stop on their Ejaculating Crepitatious Party Torture Tour 2017.
23. The Purple Party: A Celebration of Prince
Shortly after Prince died last year, Stranger arts and music editor Sean Nelson wrote, âPrince is in a very small category of artists with a legitimate claim to having defined the aesthetic and cultural (and therefore commercial, and therefore political) framework of a generation. One forgets what it felt like to have a true musical all-the-way genius who is also the greatest imaginable performer who is also a tunesmith of the highest order who also happens to be a transgressive avatar of race/gender/sexuality/class/genre who is also funny be at or near the top of the charts, in your radio, on your turntable, in your headphones, on your TV screens, and in every magazine all at the same time.â Celebrate Princeâs legacy at this purple party in his honor, with live sets by Hilary Scott and DJ Ob-1 Benobi.
24. The Return of DeadGrass
Ricky Gene Powell and Acoustic Laboratory will play twangy covers of Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia songs. Get your country psychedelia fix on guitar, banjo, upright bass, mandolin, and fiddle.

This'll be better than American Idol, because no one's judging. Sing out in the park!
26. Queer Sex Ed Night
If, like many in the country, you didn't get proper sex ed in school, you'll have the chance to catch up with some queer health tutelage from Planned Parenthood. Learn from POC educators about healthcare access, safe sex, consent, PReP, and more fundamentals. Take advantage of light food and HIV testing, enter a raffle, and shop Babeland toys.
27. Great American Eclipses
After hearing author David Baron's talk on the upcoming solar eclipseâwhich will appear partial for Seattle, but total for other parts of the countryâyou'll want to head for the "path of totality." Hear him present his book, American Eclipse: A Nationâs Epic Race to Catch the Shadow of the Moon and Win the Glory of the World, which will shed light on the "Gilded Age astronomers" and beyond.
28. Ian Bassingthwaighte: Live from Cairo
Ian Bassingthwaighte's debut novel is set just after Cairo's January 25 revolution, and promises a history and politics-driven take on President Mubarak's ejection (while maintaining all the personality and emotion you'd expect from a novel). Nathan Hill (who visited Elliott Bay a few weeks ago) called Live from Cairo "important and necessary."

ART29. Art for Autism
The 11-year-old Boyang twins, Max and Louis, are artistic prodigies who have been nationally awarded in adult competitions. The boys, accompanied by their family, will conduct an art workshop (supplies included) after a reception with hors d'oeuvres. They also promise a silent auction. Profits will support the UW Autism Center.
30. Kitty Party with Stasia Purrington
It's a "Twee Tea & Kitty Party." If you don't like cuteness and cat puns, this will not be your crowd. On the other hand, if you like "Kitty-approved snacks," "Kitty-themed art," and a "meowy good time," meet illustrator/fine artist/science fiction enthusiast Stasia Burrington and get acquainted with her versatile styles.
31. DKLG Productions presents Jackie Kashian
Jackie Kashian, the mind behind the Dork Forest podcast who's appeared on This American Life and the Conan O'Brien show, will swing through the PNW for a single show. Nathalie Holt (Sexual Awake'n Baking) will offer local support.
32. One Laugh at a Time
As part of Nights at the Neptune, Liz Donehue and fellow sober comedians will perform sets that you don't need to be drunk or high to enjoy. Nigel Larson, Daniel Carroll, and Andy Gold are Donehue's fellow funny people.
33. JamFest
The second annual JamFest enlivens the historic International District with live music sets, cabaret and burlesque performances, art, and food specials. Cover charge gets you into all involved music venues (including the Wing Luke Museum, Canton Alley, Phnom Penh Noodle House, and World Pizza) as well as admission for the museum's exhibits. The lineup includes the Shanghai Pearl, Nickolai Pirak, Saleurn, Deems Tsutakawa, and many others.
34. Bachelor Casting Call

This is a preview screening of Fallen, a documentary sharing the personal stories of slain police officers and their families. Thomas Marchese, the director, will answer your questions after the screening.

44. Earshot Series: Jazz, The 2nd Century
Jazz: The 2nd Century is a long-standing program by Earshot Jazz that invites Seattle musicians to creatively consider the future of jazz, and what that could look like, in resulting performative interpretations (thus, an ensuing concert series spread out over four consecutive Thursday evenings in July). Each night showcases original compositions by Seattle artists, and is curated by different peer groups within our local music community through a blind jury process from responses to a general call for submissions. July 20's concert will be the Ramen Trio.
45. Filson Music Series
On each of the last three Thursday nights of July, outerwear company Filson will host two live music acts, with each lineup curated by a local organization. There will be giveaways, free refreshments, and the opportunity to win a limited-edition custom guitar strap made by the Filson Restoration Department if you RSVP. Originally produced as part of Cafe Nordo's new works incubator, The Pressure Cooker, this immersive theater show written and directed by Eddie DeHais will now get the full main stage treatment at Cafe Nordo. Come for a story about the Devil's last night on earthâshe'll reveal her "greatest triumphs and darkest secrets."

COMMUNITY61. Fundraising Spa Soirée
This evening offers a combination of sensual delights and the mild pain of hair removal: Drink champagne, get sex tips from Babeland experts, have Seattle Med Spa tighten your skin with "radio frequency and heat," receive some swag including Theo Chocolate goodies, and sit back as someone from Sugar Plum pulls out your stray eyebrow hairs. 64. Hollow Earth Radio Return Show: Los Caidos, Matriarch, RJC
Scrappy local DIY venue and online radio station Hollow Earth is back after renovations with a hardcore punk show featuring Los Caidos (Argentinian power-punk rockers on their first US tour) plus Seattle's Matriarch and Regional Justice Center. Hollow Earth proudly announces that they're now ADA accessible, and as before, they're an all-ages music haven.
65. Laughter & Sound Healing Playshop With Laraaji & Arji
Spend two therapeutic hours with the electric zither master Laraaji and his longtime collaborator Arji OceAnanda, who promise mellow music, "guided laughter'cises," and deep relaxation.

Local DJs will fill the priceless Volunteer Park Conservatory with florid tunes by DJ Explorateur and Miss Shelrawka (of the Möbius Sisters). Have a beer or wine and chill out among the flowers.

68. 2017 Robert E. âNedâ Behnke Annual Lecture with Rigo 23
Hear from Rigo 23, a muralist, sculptor, painter, artisan, and zine maker who has collaborated with such activist and militant groups as the Black Panthers, the American Indian Movement, tenant collectives, and Zapatistas. You may get a chance to talk to the Portuguese-born, San Franciscan artist at the reception beforehand.
69. Martin Perlman: Thinks Out Loud
Martin Perlman offers a new take on the epistolary novel in Thinks Out Loud, written in blog form, about a group of internet nerds who are shipwrecked and forced into a wild adventure.
70. Woman Most Wild Book-Signing
Do you have a sorceress slumbering inside you? Danielle Dulsky, a "longtime activist for wild spirituality and the divine feminineâs return," will present and sign a new book Woman Most Wild: Liberating the Witch Within promising to help her rise to the surface. All genders are welcome.

ART71. Contemplari
Contemplari is a sculptural and immersive installation that explores ego control, social pressures, and "success," by Amanda Salov and Kristin Schimik. The opening reception is on Friday.
72. Schrampflin Falls: An Improvised Mystery
Possibly playing up the current Twin Peaks obsession, this improvised mystery show is set in a (fictional) small town in Washington State that has quirky residents as well as some "scandalous secrets" to hide.
73. Basin Summer Sounds Music Festival
Basin Summer Sounds is the largest free contemporary music and arts festival in the Northwest, featuring live music performances, kid-focused events, visual arts. and a charity basketball tournament. The two-day festival showcases both local and international acts, including XEB (with original members of Third Eye Blind), Spike & The Impalers, Brewer's Grade, Nitewave, and more, on the lawn of the historic Grant County Courthouse.
74. Amazing Super Collies Stunt Shows
Hero is a Super Collieâhe knows up to 400 tricks and stunts, and at two months, he used to be the world's youngest champion trick dog. He's grown up now, but seems no less impressive.

MUSIC75. Darrington Bluegrass Festival 2017
Arlington's bluegrass festival attracts twangy talent from all over the country. This year's lineup includes Rhonda Vincent and the Rage (TN), Special Consensus (IL), Gold Heart (VA), Robert Wabe (WV), and others, along with more local talent like Rural Delivery from Bremerton and the Combinations from Darrington.
76. An Awfully Big Adventure
Once again, Dacha Theatre will take audiences on a magical outdoor journey, putting viewers in the center of the action (and possibly into the drama) of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan. Good for families, as well as fans of outdoor theater and/or engaged imaginations.
77. UMO Resistance Cabaret
The 17-year-old UMO ensemble will demonstrate that "Resistance is Fertile" in this variety and burlesque show.

This brewing company will revive the ancient pagan tradition of Neptunalia, a festival in honor of the god of the sea. Shoot arrows at a target, watch Jomswikinger (blindfolded combat), "mounted" combat (we're guessing that means somebody's on someone else's shoulders), and eat, eat, eatâthe $15 buffet includes brisket, barbecued meats, beans, cornbread, sausage, and other summer foods. Wear sea colors: Green, blue, or white.

"Massage therapist and anatomy geek" Sophia Sky will show you, the ethical and safe sadist, how to use your bare hands to produce pleasurable pain in an S&M scene.

84. Behold! The Rajun Bakon Cajun Bloody Mary!
For two precious hours, the Drunken Tomato will serve extreme gourmet Bloody Marys that weigh nearly three pounds and include an entire meal's worth of skewers. The cocktail itself is brewed with Bakon vodka, garam masala, and Secret Aardvark sauce, among other tasty-sounding ingredients.

Of the first edition of West End Girls, Stranger writer and social media manager Chase Burns said: "People have been able to get a beer and tater tots in West Seattle, well, forever, but now they can do it while watching a drag queen lip-synch a Marilyn Manson song. Or lip-synch Panda Bear while dressed as a sea monster. Or smack a Chipotle burrito against her tuck." This was speculation, but given the weird drag all-star lineup (Betty Wetter, Butylene O'Kipple, DonnaTella Howe, Fraya Love, Harlotte O'Scara, Londyn Bradshaw, and Old Witch) and the host, Cookie Couture, anything seems possible.

The Northwest Detention Center Resistance will discuss what they view as the US government's lack of respect for immigrant civil rights.

120. Walk for Old Dogs
