Karen Fredriksen Goldsen, PhD, is a social work professor and director of the Healthy Generations Hartford Center of Excellence at the University of Washington. She is a nationally and internationally recognized scholar addressing issues of health equity, disparities, resilience, aging and well-being among at-risk populations. She is the principal investigator for Aging with Pride: National Health, Aging, and Sexuality/Gender Study, as well as multiple federally funded studies that identify factors accounting for health trajectories in vulnerable communities, including LGBTQ older adults. Based on the findings of this research, she is developing and testing innovative solutions to complex social problems, including social isolation. Dr. Fredriksen Goldsen is author of more than 100 publications in leading journals as well as three books.
