A multimedia concert to benefit Northwest Immigrant Rights Project will take place at Fred Wildlife Refuge on Thursday, June 28. Dubbed "No Human Is Illegal: A Fundraiser to Help Keep Families Together," the event was quickly organized in the wake of the Supreme Court decision to uphold Donald Trump’s travel ban that restricted travel from several Muslim countries.

"No Human Is Illegal" features musicians Minna Lee, Yzech Tahar, and Ebony Miranda, as well as visual artists Alexis L Silva, AnnMarie Nakahara, and Juan Franco. There's a $5-15 suggested donation, but nobody will be turned away who's 21 and over, and you can contribute whatever amount you can afford to the cause. Check out some of the performers' music and the press release after the jump.

Tonight we will come together to collectively protest the inhumane treatment of immigrants and asylum seekers at our borders. For those who have wanted to actively engage in this issue, but haven't known how, here's how you can contribute! Show up with your support to tonight's event organized by members of your Seattle music and arts community. Donate what you can. Post about it and encourage others to donate. Nobody will be turned away.

Luckily, we have some amazing people in our community that are doing the direct work to help those in need, which is why we've decided to donate all the proceeds to Northwest Immigrant Rights Project. From NWIRP:

The Trump Administration’s inhumane policy of family separation is not over.

On June 20th, the President finally responded to the public outcry over his cruel policy by signing an executive order titled “Affording Congress an Opportunity to Address Family Separation”

While the order claims that the administration will end their policy of separating children from their parents at the border, in reality, families are still apart at this very moment.

Thousands of children are still separated from their parents, including over 45 parents we know are being detained at the Federal Detention Center (FDC) in SeaTac and now also at the Northwest Detention Center (NWDC) in Tacoma.

But Northwest Immigrant Rights Project is fighting back.

As the largest direct-legal services organization in the United States, NWIRP is helping these parents and others held at the FDC and NWDC with their immigrationcases. Out of the 206 asylum seekers who were brought from the southern border
as part of the new ‘zero tolerance’ policy, NWIRP has completed screenings with over 200 of them. NWIRP is hosting legal rights presentations for all asylum-seekers currently detained at the FDC. And they have placed all cases involving a parent separated from their child (or children) with either a NWIRP staff member or a volunteer attorney.

Soon, NWIRP plans on filing a class-action lawsuit against the Trump Administration on behalf of these parents held in Washington State. The government has no legitimate purpose to separate these families while they go through civil immigration proceedings. Their suit seeks to ensure these parents and their children are reunited as soon as possible, and allowed to continue their asylum claims together.

Help NWIRP continue their important work by making a donation today.
