Good for Harrell! It's refreshing to see a Mayor who stands up to that goofy council. We haven't had that in a long time.

I don't know the West Seattle guy, but Chukundi Salisbury is a good person. I think the description of him is juvenile and gossipy.

District 1 and 2 definitely sound like they would be good races. I honestly wouldn't be too surprised if Herbold doesn't run at all. Having to defend the whole defund and public safety fiasco as the head of the committee after promising during her last campaign to actually increase funding for public safety is not going to be an easy path to navigate.

@2 Strauss will also be in for a fight. The new district maps makes District 6 less progressive with the addition of Magnolia so he'll need to broaden his approach.

The most senior member of the council isn't even mentioned here so I don't know if no one cares of they just feel she is unbeatable after the recall attempt earlier this year. I look forward to the many Strangers editorials painting any challengers are racists, corporate stooges and semi facists. Elections always make for great content and comments.

This is obviously a nasty group (Harrell's picks) for Seattle's working poor and homeless
and working people and Unions.
This is a sharper turn to the right and deepens the already corrupt fiefdom that Harrell has increased.

Bruce's practices has caused Seattle particularly downtown to be even more desolate.

They will use massive corporate funds to sedate the people into believing they will work for us. To be clear they work for themselves and their masters.

6

Anyone helping ordinary people will be smeared by the talking heads who use terms such as "too idealistic" etc. They are on almost all the threads such as two of them above.

Bruce did very little for the people in the south end when he was their rep. They did not support him in the last election because of his history of aiding bankers and the like. They supported Gonzales.

Morales is a vast improvement and hopefully will continue to be so.

"undying loyalty" seriously? should have self-edited that biased statement out. Sure, he doesn't want people on the council he can't work with, who would? they council is a dysfunctional group of ideological purists who are grounding the city into paste. i will celebrate the day sawant is finally booted off her hypocritical soap box. so far i am pleasantly surprised by Harrell's aggressiveness and action.

signed,
Leftie but not crazy

The fun part is I live and vote in District 6 and we all think he's doing a fine job, as opposed to the Mayor.

OMG ROFLOL. I had no idea Hannah even had pearls, but here is clutching them. So hard

As a follow-up question, who do you see or who does the Mayor see as a successor to Debora Juarez, who says she will not run again for D5?

“In 2020, he ran against Kirsten Harris-Talley for the State Legislature.”

Harris-Talley has since rewarded voters in south Seattle by quitting that same job, whining that as a first-term legislator, she was actually asked to do work and learn something about her job, instead of wasting everyone’s time by grandstanding and demanding applause:

“But leadership was furious. They demanded I pull the amendments… They demanded to know why I would waste floor time on amendments that will fail.”

Perhaps this time, the voters might make a better choice?
