Just because Shot Spotter doesn't work, never has, and misallocates police resources doesn't mean it wasn't added to the budget due to kickbacks

“The council wrote legislation to specifically direct JumpStart’s revenue into affordable housing, Green New Deal policies, and economic development… the start-up cost for the social housing initiative to fulfill the City’s legal obligation … Mosqueda’s budget denied Harrell’s request…”

So, revenues from the JumpStart tax can’t be used “for the social housing initiative” because revenues from the Jumpstart Tax are reserved for “affordable housing”. Got it, that makes perfect sense.

(Could there exist a universe where the Stranger would not reflexively reject a request from Mayor Harrell? Because claiming he’s doing something wrong by asking for money reserved for affordable housing to be spent on social housing seems like a really strange criticism.)

cant wait for the report on which Harrell family member or crony is invested in shot spotter

@1, @5: No need to invoke corruption when wishful thinking will explain it. Gee-whiz gadgets cost far less than actual cops (who won’t even apply to work in Seattle anymore, thanks defund) and look even cooler. So what if they don’t, actually, you know, work? It’s the thought that counts!
