Many years ago my mom was a high school teacher in a small town in Idaho. One time she was observed smoking a cig out in public and was hauled in to the priciples office and told in no uncertain terms that was unacceptable for a female teacher! My, how times have changed...
@6 Here's the short version:
"Small town high school teacher resigns after student discovery of Instagram page promoting their drag king persona leads to internet mockery, umbrage."
@7 More accurately, a teacher in a school district known for bigotry and harassment of minorities resigns when targeted by an organized hate group. They resigned after their union warned them that they were not safe. This is a huge issue, because the Peninsula School District has had this reputation for years. It is also important because the Republican candidate for Superintendent of Public Instruction came from that district, and has a history of ignoring harassment and bullying of minorities.
No one wants to confront a simple point made by Brandi, however, and it's a point that reverberates through many of these situations:
if a "straight" male teacher with a similarly fiery persona had the same quote and behaviors exposed, he'd likely be gone, too. It's happened for lesser things, often.
I know it's practically a West Coast requirement to play the "-phobic" card, but...you may be overthinking this.
A “straight” male teacher would never be exposed in the first place because there isn’t a media ecosystem of rabid anti-“straight” male bigots trying to badger them out of public life. Targeting queer people for public harassment — teachers in particular — is huge in right wing media right now.
Female teachers get fired for their Onlyfans accounts with some regularity, which I think is a more apt comparison to this case. Male teachers get fired more for inappropriate behavior in interactions with students.
That K. Wayne voluntarily left their employment at the first hint of trouble shows a lack of the courage of their convictions. Had the school district fired them, that would have proofed out the alleged phobia of the school district. When Wayne disclosed their act preemptively when they began their employment, nothing of note came from that. When colleagues saw their act, nothing of note came from that either. It's a just so story to imply that the district taking action would have eventually been the case or that inaction by not doing anything about what may be considered bullying had they remained. They made themselves a persona of a masturbatory joke, but somehow the thought of them being the butt of masturbatory jokes by students year after year for the rest of their career is just too much for them. That I believe is something of a sense of shame.
I assume threats of violence from Brandi’s listeners are bigger burden than jokes from students. They are always going to be at risk as long as they remain at the school, even if the administration is supportive.
You'ed have to assume that because the article doesn't mention any threats from Brandi's listeners. I'm relatively sure Vivian would have brought that up had there been. The modern day Phyllis Schlafly brain trust's efforts to oust K. Wayne proved impotent in having them removed. So they did the dirty work for them by quitting and they appear to have succeeded anyway.
Well, yes. They would have to go by assumption, too. It’s much easier to cut your losses and move on than wait for some lunatic to terrorize you and still have to find a new job anyway. There are a lot of sick people out there and a lot of them listen to conservative media.
The trans people most subject to violence are sex workers and sex workers as a demographic are subject high rates of violence. Nobody is going to die for art in this case.
“I literally can’t do my job because the kids are only going to think about one thing; then they’re not going to be able to focus … And therefore, I’m no longer going to be a competent employee. I hate to say that.”
God Dammit! I feel like that sanctimonious bitch Brandi Kruse has chalked up another win for the ultra-conservative right wing assholes. She says she loves drag shows and has been to several. BULLSHIT. She's a fucking liar and a cunt. Anyone that supports drag would never pull this shit, ever.
Another case of what can go wrong will go wrong.
..., unfortunately.
My teachers were fine and everything, but ... boringly so. I'd have really liked a drag king to liven things up.

As if more proof was needed that Brandi Kruse is a soulless twit.
Editor needed. This article is 2 or 3 times too long.
