Have we mentioned that Lindy West used to work here? She did.
Have we mentioned that Lindy West used to work here? She did. Jenny Jimenez

Lindy West, former Stranger film editor and current New York Times columnist (my, how the mighty have fallen) will be coming out with not one but TWO new books in the nearish future, as Jezebel (another one of West's former employers) reports.

The first book, scheduled for release later this year, is, according to publisher Hachette, a “cultural critique that examines how we arrived at this moment in history, ‘to make some sense of this horrifying quagmire in which we find ourselves.'" Sounds like it's about Trump.

The second book, also to be published by Hachette, is a collection of film criticism and will presumably be dedicated to The Stranger, where West first polished her critical claws. We've reached out to West to ask what's better, being a New York Times columnist and best-selling author or being a Stranger film editor, and—strangely—she has yet to respond. She's probably busy working on those books, but we'll update if/when she gets back to us.

Anyhoozle, a sincere congrats to West, the Stranger staffer who made good. Here are a few of our all-time favorite Lindy West pieces:

💗 Worst Popes Ever: A Brief and Completely True History of the Catholic Church

💗 10 Gauge: Robots, Plastic Bags, and Blowing Shit Up—a Review of Last Week's Billboard Top 10

💗 Hey Ladies: A Complete Herstory of Women in Music

💗 The Different Kinds of People That There Are: A Complete List

💗 Five Rough Drafts: A Few Articles I Tried to Write That Didn’t Pan Out

💗 Burkas and Birkins: I Watched 146 Minutes of Sex and the City 2 and All I Got Was This Religious Fundamentalism

And, of course, the time she wrote the Morning News drunk. If she's half as drunk when she writes these books as she was when she wrote that post, they are sure to be a very good read.
