As a practical matter the Equality Act is DOA in the senate unless they get rid of the filibuster. There is no chance of it getting passed through the senate as it is now.

Don't get me wrong. I'm glad the House voted it through, and I'm glad Biden supports it. It's a step in the right direction. But don't get your hopes up that it will become law any time soon.

The haters need an Other, to hate and to hurt. We've taken away minorities, women, and gays, so the last little group to hurt are our trans' population. So the haters go after them as well. The article is entirely correct; it's the exact same thing, over and over and over again, fed to a new group of legislators each time. The stubborn failure of our civilization to collapse after we instituted first racial equality, then sexual equality, then legal abortion, then gay rights, gay adoption, and gay marriage, doesn't stop our haters from pushing that same old lie another time.

Hopefully, once we've taken away trans' people, our haters can return to excoriating each other over tiny differences in interpretations of obscure passages in their Bibles.
