“Watching BoeingS …”

“Boeings?” Charles, are you sure you didn’t grow up in Renton, Kent or Auburn?

"it was written only a year ago and received a heap of predictable contempt because it suggested that our region should seriously consider what to do with all of the properties that Boeing is offloading as it departs to states that have weak unions/cheap labor"

Charles, your post received considerable contempt because it made the ludicrous claim that Boeing would go out of business in 2025, despite the fact that that time, Boeing had a backlog of orders that would keep it busy until at least 2031. Your prior post also failed to address a wide array of prohibitive governmental regulations, and was poorly written. It's all right there in black and white in the comments.

@2, and 21 comments on a blog entry is hardly a “heap”

I think it's fair to say that Boeing in engaging in a long goodbye with the Puget Sound region, but I suspect it will continue to be the multi-decade process it has been, in part because of the vendors that have built up facilities here, and the engineering talent in the region.

Golly... How is Mudede--nomics working now.

Step One - Be so caustic to Boeing as a business it moves HQ to Chicago,

Step Two -- Continue to be so caustic Boeing shifts production outside of Seattle
(787 Dreamline now being produced in North Charleston)

Step Three continue to harass large companies... Amazon moves to Bellevue

Step Four Abandon small business and create a hostile environment and make a wasteland of downtown. (mission accomplished!)

Don't worry, ... The poor in Renton need not worry....very soon the downtown will be so hideous, riddled with crime, vagrancy, filth... that living in that hell hole will be cheap.

Our Dear Manolitos. Always there to stand up for the corporations against the ruthlessly liberal Seattle Establishment, in their Broadmoors and their Rainier Club.

Yes, it's all because of how gosh darned mean everybody was to poor little Boeing that they pulled up their tent stakes and relocated 150 employees to Chicago (a place that any conservative will tell you is an anti-business hellhole and THE MURDER CAPITAL OF ILLINOIS!!?!), and embraced the south for manufacturing. Everybody knows how well educated and trained that region is.

And Amazon feelings were so hurt that it built some buildings across the lake!!!! After all, no one commutes across the lake, and a gain to Bellevue is always loss to Seattle! We sure suffered when Microsoft chose Redmond, and that was when we greeted every new corporation with virgins and unicorns, and the city was a pristine utopia.
