Oh. Really? What “context” would you like?

The one where Israel murders journalists and beats people at her funeral? Or the on-going Apartheid state?

4

If only Israel's neighbors had the shown the courtesy to help form a Palestinian state. Yasser Arafat tried, bless his heart.

Wow. Astounding misinformation, disinformation outright dishonesty.

To start off with, Israel is a decolonialization effort. Jews, as the indigenous people (along with only the Samaritans, who also fall under the definition of what is indigenous peoples) of that land, are returning to decolonize our land, first colonized by the Romans, all the way up to the British before the state of Israel was created. So, nothing was “given“ to the Jews, but there was an assistance in decolonizing our lands. Same as many Native Americans, indigenous people of the very land that the story and it’s mischaracterizations were written on, who were put on reservations would certainly like to see their lands all around us here decolonized.

Past that, it’s an antisemitic trope of a blood libel to suggest that Israel has helped the Seattle police in any form except to talk about how to combat terrorism.

This is exceptionally shoddy journalism, obviously written by a person with a overwhelming bias and is embarrassing to see this type of ideologically-based dishonesty pass is journalism.

If Sawant says it's bad, it's good, and vice versa.

9

@6 Or, as Hannah would say, "Journalism lol."

Imagine still giving a shit about this conflict in 2022. Who fucking cares.

@5: They're supposed to pass the utterly meaningless, virtue-signalling resolution mentioned at the end of the post. While the resolution will have no effect on Israel, passing the resolution would give CM Sawant (yet another) chance to park her mouth in front of a microphone and yell and yell and yell that she's doing something about something.

'“It was like deja vu,” she said. “They look like the Israeli military. They're using similar tactics. the teargas, the pepper balls, the formations, the announcements. All that was left for them to use on Americans was skunk water.”'

So, after the SPD abandoned the East Precinct -- a situation which Seattle's City Council has never properly investigated, BTW -- was the resultant murderous chaos in the so-called CHOP a really good analog to what would happen in Palestine if the Israelis were to depart? Perhaps Hannah can e-mail Barghouti and ask about that. Let us know if you get a response, Hanna!
