I can think of no better thing to do on a balmy summer Saturday evening than attend Fantagraphics’ Hot Off the Press Book Fair. The 8th annual celebration of zines, graphic novels, music, poetry, and all things on paper takes place July 9 right outside Fantagraphics’ brick-and-mortar store in Georgetown. From 5 pm to 9 pm, you can find a whole host of treasures from over 50 regional indie artists and small-press publishers.

You can pick up the latest edition of Ra Ra Rebel’s riot grrrl-inspired zines, finally snag Gnartoons’ (aka James the Stanton) and Sarah Romano Diehl’s recent releases, or peruse the offerings of forever-cool Seattle-based Cold Cube Press. Also in attendance will be Paper Press Punch, Scarff, Ben Horak (please read his latest comic for us; it’s incredible), Natalie Dupille, Phil Elverum, Short Run, and so many more talented folks. When you’re not bulking up your print media collection, you can enjoy entertainment from Student Nurse, Stacey Levine, Sofia K., Maurice Caldwell, and Annihilation Squares. And if you’re in need of sustenance, the most refreshing treat in the world is just around the corner.

Fantagraphics Bookstore and Gallery’s Hot Off the Press Book Fair runs from 5 pm to 9 pm July 9 outside their Georgetown location.Â
